Settings

How this site shows things to you.

Six choices. All of them are kept on this device and nowhere else, and none of them is ever sent to us. The site makes a sensible guess to start with — from your device’s own language and clock, never from looking you up — and it only remembers a choice once you have actually made one. Until then there is nothing here to remember.

Your choices

Set them once, and every page follows

Every one of these also sits next to the thing it changes — the currency under a price, the units under a distance — so you never have to come here to find one.

Offline

Keeping pages for when there is no signal

This site keeps a copy of every page you open, so it still works on bad hotel wifi or a plane. It is the largest thing we keep on your device by far, and you can turn it off.

Turning it off deletes the copies straight away. The site carries on working normally — it will just need a signal, like any other site.

Checking…

These live on the account page rather than being copied here. One of each control, in one place, is the only way two of them cannot disagree.

Your privacy

What is kept, and how to stop it

Signed out, this site sets no cookies at all, and nothing it keeps on your device ever reaches us. Everything it does keep is listed on one page, with a button to clear each row, a button to clear the lot, and a lasting way to say no.

The “stop storing anything” button is deliberately not repeated here. It is the control that makes our no-cookie-banner position lawful, and there must only ever be one of it.
