What you save is locked with your password, on your own device, before it reaches us. That is what stops this site ever being made to hand over a list of who is away from home and when. It has one cost, and it is a real one: we cannot unlock your data either.
So if you forget your password and lose the recovery key we are about to show you, what you saved is gone. Not mislaid, not recoverable by asking us nicely. Gone.
Nothing you save here is worth more than the trip itself — but it is worth knowing now rather than in a year.

This is your recovery key. It is the only other thing that can unlock what you save, and we cannot show it to you again — we do not keep a copy of it.
On paper in a drawer is genuinely fine. So is a password manager. An email to yourself is the one place not to put it.
If you already had an account with this address then nothing has changed and this key does not belong to it. Check your email before you write anything down.
